Cavendish families invited to take part in National Sleep Study

Supporting a UCL Department of Psychology and Human Development study exploring sleep, anxiety and daytime behaviour in teens.

As part of our overarching commitment as a teaching and learning organisation we feel it is important to support research initiatives designed to help broaden the world’s understanding of the unique students in our care.

One initiative we are keen to support is a cutting edge UK wide Sleep Study being carried out by UCL Department of Psychology and Human Development; Lifespan Learning & Sleep Lab  funded by The John and Lorna Wing Foundation, looking to better understand the relationship between sleep, anxiety and daytime behaviour in teens aged 12-18. The research is particularly interested in looking to find ways to support children with Autism.

In addition to her current nationwide sample, Research Fellow Georgia Pavlopoulou and Dr Dagmara Dimitriou are  looking for a further 12 or more families with young people between the ages of 12-18 who have been diagnosed with Autism (there can be coexisting diagnosis as well such as ADHD or OCD) to take part in the study. Participating families will receive a free sleep report and a £15 voucher.

If there are any families within the Cavendish group of schools that are interested in participating, we can coordinate with Georgia for her to visit our schools to meet with parents. Georgia is also able to make home visits. Alternatively, contributions can made via an on-line surveyEnter password: IOE17121359. (NB: include .dot at end of password).
